Connecting Your Smart TV to Plex
Follow these steps to connect your smart television to the RighteousBanana Plex server and start streaming your media collection.
Option 1: Using the Plex App (Recommended)
- On your smart TV, go to your app store (Samsung SmartThings, LG Content Store, Roku Channel, etc.)
- Search for and install the Plex application
- Open the Plex app once installation is complete
- When prompted to sign in, enter your Plex account credentials
- Your server should appear automatically in the "Servers" section
- Select "RighteousBanana" from the available servers
- Browse your media library and start watching!
Option 2: Using Web Browser
- On your smart TV (if it has a browser), navigate to
https://plex.righteousbanana.com - Sign in with your Plex account credentials
- Your server will be automatically selected
- Start browsing and streaming your content

Troubleshooting
Server Not Appearing
If your server doesn't appear in the app:
- Ensure your TV is on the same network as the Plex server
- Make sure you're signed into the same Plex account used to set up the server
- Restart the Plex app on your TV
- Check that the server is running and online
Playback Issues
If videos won't play:
- Check your internet connection speed
- Try playing a different media file to determine if it's specific content
- Restart the Plex app and try again
- Lower the video quality in Plex settings if experiencing buffering
Authentication Failed
If you can't sign in:
- Verify your Plex account credentials are correct
- Ensure you have an internet connection
- Sign out completely and sign back in
- Update the Plex app to the latest version
